Contemporary Art Meets Tea Ceremony: An Evening of “Natural Emptiness” with Season Lao | Saturday, August 30

The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka invites you to an unparalleled experience where art and the ancient ritual of the tea ceremony intertwine, featuring the internationally acclaimed contemporary artist, Season Lao.

Against the backdrop of his masterful work, “Winter Pine Trees in Genkai Landscape” (寒松玄海図), a space imbued with the aesthetic of In-ei Raisan (In Praise of Shadows) will transform into a serene tea ceremony venue. Here, Mr. Masashi Harashima, a leading authority on Yame-cha and a master of the Kofusencha Reishiki school of sencha, will conduct a special Yame-cha tea ceremony. Witness as a monumental contemporary artwork becomes a “kakejiku” (hanging scroll), and our modern hotel space is reimagined as a “chashitsu” (tea room), creating a rare setting for dialogue between humanity and nature, space and emptiness.

The evening culminates in an exclusive dinner where you’ll join Mr. Lao and Mr. Harashima. Savor a specially curated collaboration menu inspired by the theme of “Natural Emptiness” and the exquisite Yame-cha.
